Follow me on Book Bub, or face the wrath of Milo!

There’s this maniac that lives inside my left ventricle. He only comes out when the moon is full, or I get despondent over the latest social networking shenanigans and start to feel like I’m not being imaginary followed by enough not-quite-real-to-me people. His name is Milo. He calls himself “Doctor Milo”, but his credentials are sketchy – at best. This deranged lunatic is something like George “The Animal” Steele, but better looking and somewhat voyeuristic. He likes to get sweaty and watch the dudes unload the trucks out behind the 7-11 at 3am, all the while huffing cans of spray cheez and groping a small plush llama.

So I need to ask you all a little favour. If you’re hip to the whole BookBub scene, swing on by and follow my profile. It’ll help a brother out immensely, and will give you the inside edge on new books when they are about to launch! It may also enable us to get #FURR in there in the fall and offer you all up a little treat.

Save us all from the creep on the right down there, and then feel the love I’m blasting out into the atmosphere for ya!

Arthur Ellis Award Shortlist Announcements TONIGHT!

Yep.

The season ’tis upon us once again.

And as your duly appointed Prairies Region director of the Crime Writers of Canada, one of my main duties is to throw the annual shindig for the Arthur Ellis Awards shortlist announcements. Back in 2014, I was a finalist for the award for Best First Novel for Hot Sinatra. It’s a magical, wonderful thing to be nominated.

Speaking of wonderful, magical things…

Along with my co-host and emcee (my predecessor in Prairies Directorship, and AB Negative alumni Susan Calder), I will be throwing down some escape artistry, a little card magic (maybe some light gun-play), and then joining a lively discussion with fellow potential-nominees, former-nominees and also-AB Negative alumni Dwayne “Killer” Clayden and Lady Jayne Barnard. We will also be joined by the fabulous E.C. Bell out of Edmonton, and will all perform a little reading of our own work, in-betwixt all of the excitement of revealing the shortlist nominations.

If you’re in the Calgary are tonight, I strongly suggest you grab a pew and join the tent-show! Owl’s Nest Books – 7PM

Bacon and Rollins! new story on Wattpad

I’ve just added my tiny weirdo tale “Henry Rollins and the Better Butter Bacon Burger” to Wattpad. The infamous Red Tash once dared me to write a story about bacon and Henry Rollins on a day they were both trending on the twitterz, so I damn well did it. It’s a little less than a thousand words, but the bizarro waitress character stuck in my brain-guts and found herself being a new favorite for a lot of people who read FURR this past winter. FURR, by the way, is “A modern-day (grim) fairy tale full of werewolf strippers, goth-rock wizards and a shaman named Bob Dylan.” It’s also my newest novel, due back this fall (October 2016 from Tyche Books!)

Now go check out the menu!
