K.O.’d by Aranofsky’s “The Wrestler”

 I’ve been ruminating for days now, trying to let the nuances and overall effect of Darren Aranofsky’s THE WRESTLER wash over me. I’ve seen it twice now, and I’m a guy with a wife and soon to be two kids… I get out to the movies once or twice a year.

 Is it good? Sure. I could simply state – “This movie kicks ass”, “THE WRESTLER will defeat you” or “See the re-animation of Mickey Rourke’s scarred and supposedly lifeless body” or some other bullshit like that – and be done with it, but this is a movie that resonated deeply with me.

For Auld Lang Syne, My Jo

‘Auld Lang Syne’ basically means ‘long, long ago…’

Here, in honor of New Years Day 2009, is a once-famous poem by that robbiemagnificent bastard Robbie Burns, who himself admitted:

“The following song is an old song, of the olden times, and which has never been in print, nor even in manuscript until I took it down from an old man”

And now, more than 200 years later, we sing it every New Years and no one knows what the hell it means… So Happy New Year and bugger me if you think I’m gonna translate the whole fookin’ thing. Read on ye lovers of the true form!
