#CoffinHop LiveTweet – BLACKENSTEIN!

Round about an hour and forty-five until the #CoffinHop movie night livetweet of the 1973 Blaxploitation classic BLACKENSTEIN!

One of the venerated traaditions of #CoffinHop here on is the Movie Night LiveTweet, which goes back to the EyecraveDVD days, when we used to have our 24 hour bad moviemarathon. Some of the flicks have included The absolutely amazeballs¬† Crow: Wicked Prayer (also picked by Scotty Phillips), Paul Naschy’s excellent Night of the Werewolf, classic horror-satire The Stuff, Godzilla Vs Mechagodzilla, Jessica Alba dance epic Honey, and the soul-shattering existential terror that is The Notebook. Last year we checked out the bazonkerfest Beyond The Black Rainbow and got completely lit on Ron Burgundy scotch whiskey. Scott Phillips (@ScottPhillipsNM) picked this year’s selection out of his leopard-skin pillbox pimpin’ hat, and he’ll be joining me, along with the madman of the andes, or whatever the hell parts unknown he may be from, our old pal Ramone! (@VivaRamone) and anyone else who cares to join in. Basically, we’re going to get stupid, watch this here bad movie, and talk all kinds of hilarious shit about it via twitter.

So settle in, get some popcorn on the pop, grab a forty and your sense of humor and appreciation for camp blaxploitation and let’s turn this mutha out. Catch me on the twitterz at @AxelHow , look for the hashtags #Coffinhop and #Blackenstein and, for ease of access, here’s the damn movie in all its glorious bad mammajam so you can play along:

And remember, to stop this mutha takes one bad brotha!

That’s right kids! TWITTAFLICKS… it’s like “Critique-Haiku”, man!

I am jumping on the Twitter bandwagon, but with a novel approach… I will utilize my Twitter account @twittaflicks¬†to post bi-weekly, morsel-sized, extra-tasty reviews of the 500 greatest films ever made!

How does one compile such a list, you may well ask?

I took the IMDB top 250, added the AFI Top 100, the Yahoo 100 Best, the MSN Movies Top 100, the NYFC list, the Foreign Press lists, added in several top critics like the Big E and Bobby Osbourne from TCM, merged, stirred furiously for one minute, added a liberal sprinkle of my own picks and rounded it out with a dollop of movie-making, film-lovin’ Cineaste pals and baked at 450 for 90 minutes.

Follow me on Twitter or tune in at to get in on all of the crazy truncated fun… starting this Friday night!!!
