Help Raise 1,000 books for charity and enter to win $200, signed books and swag!

We are excited to share about an ambitious blog tour—Fiction Frolic for All Hallow’s Read—where ten authors from several genres are working hard to raise 1,000 books in three weeks for Books for America.

From October 1st to 19th, donate a new book (or books!) and earn extra bonus points in a huge giveaway that these authors are hosting.

Two winners will each receive the following PRIZES!

$100 Amazon G.C.

5 signed books from the authors hosting the event

A swag bag

Plus—in honor of All Hallow’s read, gift a signed copy of one of our books to a friend!

With a total of $200, 12 signed books (including the gifted books) and major swag, what better way is there to raise books for charity and celebrate All Hallow’s Read?

Each author participating is also donating signed copies of their books to Books for America, an awesome charity that is officially sponsoring their event and excited to be involved with All Hallow’s Read. In 2011, Books for America donated more than $800,000 worth of books and materials to DC area schools, shelters and dozens of other educational programs and organizations.

The authors are blogging throughout the event at The Fiction Frolic Blog.

  • 10/1-5 Read about how books shaped their love for reading and writing.
  • 10/8-12 Read their scariest, funniest or craziest Halloween experiences, or learn about their favorite Halloween themed book or movie, or favorite work of “dark” literature.
  • 10/15-19 Enjoy some flash fiction, short stories and novel excerpts.

So donate, share, and look for daily ways to enter to win. Donate to charity for bonus points!.

FICTION FROLIC RAFFLECOPTER

Axel Howerton on Edin Road Radio this Thursday!

That’s right kids. Yours truly will be making an appearance on Edin Road Radio this Thursday, October 18 at 6:30PM Eastern.

We’ll be chatting Coffin Hop, the DEATH BY DRIVE-IN anthology and EP Collectors edition, and I’ll be reading an excerpt of some dang thing that is still TBD.

Wanna hear me butcher the English language with my ridiculous Canadian accent and proclivity for ending sentences with eh? Want to hear me garble and grumble through a live reading? Want to hear me blush and stammer at the mere idea of talking about myself?

EDIN ROAD on BLOG TALK RADIO Thursday at 6:30 ET /4:30 Pacific!

And check out that amazing freaking Coffin Hop art by the inimitable R.L. Treadway!

Going APE? Don’t miss the best table in town.

My ol’ pal Nic Caesar will be amongst the twisted ranks of the Alternative Press Expo being thrown by the good folks who put on the SDCC every year. If you’re in the San Francisco area and headed down to the big show (which features everyone from Sergio Aragones, Gil, Jaime and Mario Hernandez to Jim Woodring and Miriam Libicki)
BE SURE to stop by Booth #714B and pick up some of these new goodies:

A couple of snafus prevented my strips from showing up in Filthy Cake and Pit & The Compendium, but I can tell you for an absolute FACT that these books are filled to the brim with amazing art and hardcore stories. Nic’s Mosquito & Spider books are about the funniest shit you could possibly dig up at the Con, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a better bang for your buck anywhere on Earth.

Those of you NOT in San Fran this weekend will be able to pick these titles up online in the immediate future, and I just may get those strips, or some other stuff, out in the comic world PDQ.

Coffin Hop EP? This ain’t vinyl… this is a whole new bag…

Yep. I am currently hard at work putting together a special “Collector’s EP” of the upcoming Coffin Hop: Death By Drive-In anthology. The anthology will be revealed next September, with 22 amazing B-movie inspired stories from some of the best Indie authors around. All profits from the anthology (as well as our Coffin Hop store) will be donated to Reading Tree/ Discover Books

The Collector’s EP features stories from Amy K. Marshall, Jessica McHugh, C.W. LaSart and the redoubtable Red Tash.

A strange outbreak in the wilds of Alaska just may spell unexpected doom for the world.

Who are we, really? Where did we come from? And who stole Betty’s brain?

Glenda is hot, available, and addicted to Pinterest. She’s also totally wild, in the most primal sense of the word. What else could a lonely guy ask for?

Did old Mrs. Danek really see a spaceship? Her doctor questions her sanity, but can he explain her symptoms, or survive the last appointment of the night?

There’s also a portion of my book-end story Dusk ‘Til Dawn at the Twelve Pines and a special cliffhanger episode of Robot Lincoln and Zombie Jackson as they face the sinister Dr. Acula and his steam-powered supermen!

How can you purchase yourself this amazing morsel of Halloween confection?

Here’s the best part.

You can’t.

The special “Collector’s EP” of Coffin Hop: Death By Drive-In will only be available, exclusively, and for a very limited time, as a SPECTACULAR one-of-a-kind (alright, 150-ish of a kind) prize during the COFFIN HOP event, running from October 24 – 31 on our member websites. You can find more info and (starting October 24) the link list on the official COFFIN HOP website at www.coffinhop.wordpress.com

Each participating member will be giving away ONE e-book copy, which will be distributed by me, at the end of the hop. That means that if you want to be one of the elite, select, miniscule number of fans with a sneak peek at next year’s best collection of short horror. You need to get out your best Hoppin’ boots, get on down to the bone yard, and do a little dance.
