Axel Howerton is a former entertainment journalist, and the author of the Arthur Ellis Award nominated detective caper "Hot Sinatra", the modern gothic fairytale "Furr", and the forthcoming "Wolf & Devil" urban fantasy series. His work, including short stories, columns, poetry and essays, have appeared the world over, in no fewer than five languages. Axel is the Prairies director of the Crime Writers of Canada, and a member of the Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Association, the Calgary Crime Writers, and the Kintsugi Poets. He is also the editor of the books "Death by Drive-In", "AB Negative", and "Tall Tales of the Weird West", and is the organizer behind one of Canada's first recurring "Noir At The Bar" events, #NoirBarYYC.

Yep. I’m still out here. Still struggling… but any spare time I’ve had for writing has been eaten up by freelance copy stuff… such deep meaningful profundity as
“Company X is your full service provider for the insert industry here field!”
And, of course:
“Company X has the solution to your problem. Click HERE for more.”
Still, it brings home the groceries, and it keeps my wrists nimble and my fingers full of tensile strength (That’s what she said!).

I know I’ve said it before. I also realize that it is usually with a merely annual frequency that I drag my sorry ass out and post something here, but with Old Man Hades breathing down my neck, more kids on the way and Life itself, perpetually kicking my nads into my cerebellum, I think I need to take control of the situation and show a little spine.
Humblest apologies for the whistling wind and lonely tumbleweeds rollin’ on through this page for the last, oh, 6 months… Between the ridiculous day job, the movie site and what little time I have left over for my family, I have sorely neglected my sub-pseudo-almost-career-attempt at serious writing. I hope to get back in the swing soon and have some very cool genre ideas I have been throwing around. These are most likely for a suggested ‘comic-book’ project with my old pal Lou Girardo, artist extraordinaire.
Suffice it to say, details and stories will follow once I’ve had a chance to work on them. Don’t give up on me yet, I’m still thinking, still plotting and scheming and still biding my time in preparation for the Rapture – that, of course, being the day I ‘make it’, just as the world is coming to an end.
