I am currently in the running for two Ellis Awards (Crime Writers of Canada’s top awards) for Best First Novel for HOT SINATRA and for Best Short Story for 999 Problems from the Exter Press anthology CLONES, FAIRIES AND MONSTERS IN THE CLOSET .
There are various shindigs at cities across Canada to celebrate and await the official announcement this evening, including in Toronto at the Manulife Indigo, featuring the incomparable Melodie Campbell and many more; the Ottawa gathering at Rideau Chapters with Barbara Fradkin and others; the Vancouver event at the Vancouver Public Library’s Peter Kaye Room with fellow BFN nominee E.R. Brown and more.
Here in my own hometown of Calgary, we’ll be holed up at Owl’s Nest Books (7-9, refreshments and entertainment included) where I will be reading and participating on a short Q&A panel with Kirk Layton and Darlene Quaife before the announcements. If you’ve ever wanted to see a man sweat from his eyeballs, come on down!
