I am jumping on the Twitter bandwagon, but with a novel approach… I will utilize my Twitter account @twittaflicks to post bi-weekly, morsel-sized, extra-tasty reviews of the 500 greatest films ever made!
How does one compile such a list, you may well ask?
I took the IMDB top 250, added the AFI Top 100, the Yahoo 100 Best, the MSN Movies Top 100, the NYFC list, the Foreign Press lists, added in several top critics like the Big E and Bobby Osbourne from TCM, merged, stirred furiously for one minute, added a liberal sprinkle of my own picks and rounded it out with a dollop of movie-making, film-lovin’ Cineaste pals and baked at 450 for 90 minutes.
Follow me on Twitter or tune in at www.eyecrave.net to get in on all of the crazy truncated fun… starting this Friday night!!!
Yep. I’m a jumpin’ on that bandwagon and throwing out my prognostications for the winners of tonights big baldies. I’m kind of curious what kind of ass-backwards shenanigans they have planned to ‘rejuvinate’ the telecast, but I also have great hopes for Hugh Jackman as host, having seen what kind of effusive, jovial and highly talented showman he is. Hopefully they’ll leave the cheesy YouTube-style parody videos tot he MTV awards and get back to what the Academy Awards are best at – pomp, pageantry, star-watching and lucrative betting-pools.
I’ve been ruminating for days now, trying to let the nuances and overall effect of Darren Aranofsky’s THE WRESTLER wash over me. I’ve seen it twice now, and I’m a guy with a wife and soon to be two kids… I get out to the movies once or twice a year.
Is it good? Sure. I could simply state – “This movie kicks ass”, “THE WRESTLER will defeat you” or “See the re-animation of Mickey Rourke’s scarred and supposedly lifeless body” or some other bullshit like that – and be done with it, but this is a movie that resonated deeply with me.
